From Project Idea to Project Management
Course objectives
The Advanced European Project Design Course is a 14-hour online programme designed for participants who wish to develop practical skills in the design, planning and management of projects funded by the European Union. Through interactive workshops, practical exercises, case studies and simulations, participants will explore the tools and methodologies used by European project design professionals to transform an idea into a structured, coherent and competitive project proposal.
The course covers the key stages of project development, from needs assessment and the definition of objectives, to activity planning and budget development, concluding with the preparation of the project implementation and management phase. Particular attention will be given to the practical application of project design tools through collaborative exercises, simulations and work on real cases or project ideas proposed by participants.
The programme combines guided preparatory activities and workshops in small groups, encouraging exchange among participants from different countries, professional backgrounds and areas of interest. In addition to proposal development, the course introduces the main tools and processes used during the implementation phase, enabling participants to understand the connections between project design, management, monitoring and evaluation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- transform a project idea into a structured and coherent project proposal;
- analyse needs, problems and stakeholders relevant to a European project;
- develop a results-oriented intervention logic;
- design Logical Frameworks, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Work Packages;
- plan activities, deliverables and milestones;
- prepare project budgets aligned with objectives and planned activities;
- organise and coordinate international partnerships;
- prepare the transition from project design to project implementation;
- use Artificial Intelligence tools to support the design and management of European projects.
Course Structure (14 Hours)
- Needs Assessment and Stakeholder Analysis
- How to identify problems, needs, target groups and stakeholders, transforming an initial idea into a proposal based on evidence and real needs.
- Logical Framework and Intervention Logic
- Definition of objectives, expected results, indicators and assumptions. Building the Logical Framework Matrix and the project’s Theory of Change.
- Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Breaking down the project into activities and sub-activities, organising work, operational planning and assigning responsibilities.
- Work Packages, deliverable e milestone
- Developing the work plan, defining project outputs and organising activities into coherent work packages.
- Budget planning
- Principles of budget development, main cost categories, consistency between activities and financial resources, and an introduction to the financial management of European projects.
- Partnership e consortium management
- Selection of project partners, project governance, allocation of roles, coordination and collaboration within international partnerships.
- From Proposal to Implementation
- Monitoring, quality assurance, risk management, reporting and the main challenges involved in managing a funded project.

The course enables participants to move from a general understanding of European project design to the ability to design, plan and prepare the implementation of a project funded by the European Union, developing an integrated vision that connects project ideation, proposal writing and project management.

Participation Fees
Standard fee: €450
Reduced fee: €200 – reserved for students with economic fewer opportunities.
Target audience
Participants who have attended EuGen’s European Project Design Basic Course or who possess equivalent knowledge of the fundamental principles of European project design.
Methodology
Collaborative learning, practical exercises, simulations based on real cases, group work and guided use of Artificial Intelligence tools.
Final certificate
Issued to participants who successfully complete the course and the final assessment activities.
If the minimum number of students is not reached, alternative dates will be proposed or a full refund of the amount paid will be made.

Financial support for participants with fewer opportunities
In line with the principles of inclusion and equal opportunities promoted by the Erasmus+ Programme, a one-off additional contribution of €250 is available as a discount on the course fee for students and recent graduates who are in a documented situation of economic disadvantage.
The contribution is granted until the available funds are exhausted and in accordance with the objective criteria outlined below.
Definition – Economic disadvantage
Participants considered to have fewer opportunities for economic reasons are those belonging to a household with income or asset indicators below the thresholds established by national legislation or by the relevant national criteria in the country of residence.
This support does not apply to other categories of fewer opportunities (such as disability, health conditions, migrant background, or other situations not directly related to economic circumstances).
